HD Component Cable for Original Xbox
Uses Official Microsoft Cable • Triple-Shielded • YPbPr + Coax S/PDIF
Highlights
- ✅ Built from a genuine Microsoft-branded Xbox 360 component cable
- ✅ Triple-shielded for a crisp, clean, interference-free signal.
- ✅ HD output: 480p / 720p / 1080i (where available)
- ✅ Audio choice: Analog Stereo (RCA) + Digital Coax S/PDIF (5.1 Dolby & DTS surround sound)
- ✅ Professionally re-terminated with an Original Xbox compatible AVIP connector
If you’re tired of noisy, flimsy third-party leads, this is the upgrade you require. Because these are made from official Microsoft donor cables with proper triple shielding, they deliver a noticeably more stable picture and cleaner audio than many cheap aftermarket alternatives — most of which have little to no shielding at all.
Video (Component YPbPr)
- Green / Blue / Red RCA component video
- Supports 480p, 720p, 1080i (where available)
HD mode note: The Xbox must be set to NTSC video mode to enable 480p/720p/1080i. On PAL consoles, this typically requires an NTSC-capable BIOS (often via a softmod/modchip) before the HD options appear in the dashboard/games.
Audio (Analogue + Digital)
- Stereo analogue via Red / White RCA
- Coaxial S/PDIF digital via the repurposed “yellow” RCA, clearly identified with an orange heat-shrink sleeve
Surround sound ready: S/PDIF supports 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS passthrough (where supported by the game/content and your receiver).
Important note (Original Xbox v1.0 only)
Revision 1.0 consoles have a known quirk in the S/PDIF data stream. Some TVs/receivers/soundbars may reject the digital signal (resulting in no digital audio). This is fixed on all Xbox revisions after v1.0.
Analogue red/white audio is always unaffected.
